What I Love: February Favourites 2013

Since I really like other people's blogs and videos about their favourites of the month, I thought I would do my own. I think this is something that I want to keep doing. However, this is just my first attempt and I don't really have the categories completely figured out yet, so bear with me! If you have feedback or if you write your own favourites post/make your own favourites videos, please let me know below! :) Also, just a disclaimer that this is not a sponsored post, so all of these are things that I actually genuinely like! Prices are in Canadian dollars.

What did you love this month?

Health & Beauty

I just discovered Bath & Body Works in the last month or two and I have been absolutely loving it. These are the Fine Fragrance Mists from their Signature collection. I kind of went crazy in the store (it smells so good in there) and I already own six of these body  now. Paris Amour and Sweet Pea. There are so many different scents still to discover and I am pretty sure I am going to be going back for more. They come at $14 for 8 oz., $6 for the 3 oz. travel size. Bath & Body Works has a great deal right now where you can get 3 for 1 items from their Signature collection (including shower gels, body lotions, etc.) for just $14 or 3 travel sized Fine Fragrance mists for $10. I think that's a really great deal, and they really do smell amazing. I have been getting lots of compliments. Check out their great variety of scents here!

Another beauty item that I have been loving this month is the Revlon ColorBurst lip butter in the colour Candy Apple. This is super moisturizing and does not dry out your lips like a regular lipstick might. For an everyday look, I'll wear this on my lips itself, which gives me a sheer to medium colour combined with a very simple eye (just mascara and maybe some liquid liner). What is great is that you can build it up by wearing a stain, lipliner or lipstick underneath to get a full and vibrant colour, which is great if you want something a little bit more fancy. Especially when worn with a base underneath the colour will last a long time! There is many more great colours to be found here. These are sold pretty much any drugstore. I got it at Shoppers Drug Mart, but I can't remember the price. You can get it for $7.97 at Walmart.

Fashion

I absolutely love this Geo Plastron necklace from Ardene. I never really went into Ardene before, because I always looked at it as just being really cheap and probably not very great quality. However, it's a really great store and their stores can be found at most malls (at least in Canada). This necklace was part of a 5 for $10 deal, so it only cost me $2! That's a great price, and it is not one of those necklaces that will break the second time you wear it (I would know, I have been wearing this so much this month). Go check out an Ardene store if you have one near, because they have amazing deals! You can find this necklace here.
Plain, black circle skirts! I absolutely love them. This one is from Topshop, it cost about $53 dollars and you can buy it here. However, I got mine from a shop called Urban Behavior for about $5 (I don't think they have a website, sorry!). You can find these anywhere and you don't have to spend a lot of money on it. Circle skirts are super versatile and flattering for any shape. I wore my skirt with a white tank top, a burgundy blazer, black tights and some black boots to the ballet, and today I am wearing it in a more casual way with a mustard t-shirt, grey cropped cardigan and a olive circle scarf.

Collared shirts, especially sleeveless ones and those with studded collars. I have been absolutely crazy about these. This is a style that I have never really worn before, and I must say I love it. Again, I got all my collared shirts from Urban Behavior for under $10, and I can't find them online, so I just found a couple examples that look kind of like the ones I own on Polyvore (which is a website you should totally check out!). If you are interested in one of these shirts, just click the image and it will take you to the retailer's website!

Home & Living

Bath & Body Works again! I discovered their fragrance bulbs this month and they are fantastic! I have never been a fan of room fragrances, but I am pretty sure I never want to go without these again. They make your room smell fresh, without being overwhelming, and without you having to manually spray a room freshener every coupe hours. I am currently using the scent Carribean Escape and I have been getting compliments from pretty much everyone that enters my room. You can get the plug for $8.50 and the fragrance bulbs for $6.50 a piece or you can mix and get 4 for $20, or 6 for $24. Check out all their scents here.

Food & Drink

Celestial Seasoning's raspberry zinger herbal tea. What can I say? It's tea, it tastes amazing, you should try it! I think I got this for around $3 at Nester's Market.

Music

Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Box of Stones. I absolutely
loved this one in February, and the music video is beautiful.
Buy on iTunes.

"You said I'm young, but I'm yours
I am free, but I am flawed
I'm here in your heart
I was here from the star
t"

Finally something book related in this favourites post. Meghan Tonjes - The Fault Is In Our Stars. This song was inspired by John Green's book The Fault in Our Stars, which we all love, right? Meghan actually released this in February last year, but I just now discovered it. And really, all her music is fantastic. Her album This Year has been playing on repeat. It gives you all the feels, and it just doesn't get boring or old. You can buy The Fault Is In Our Stars on iTunes here, and 25% will go to the This Star Won't Go Out foundation, but you really should just get the album here.

Film

If you know me at all, you will know that I have the tiniest
movie repertoire ever. I only went to see one film this month. I really
liked it! Side Effects is directed by Steven Soderbergh, and starring
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Channing Tatum (ladies?), Jude Law
(LADIES!), and most of all Rooney Mara (oh my god I love her).

"Side Effects is a provocative thriller about Emily and Martin,
a successful New York couple whose world unravels when a new
drug prescribed by Emily's psychiatrist - intended to treat anxiety -
has unexpected side effects." - rotten tomatoes.com

Also: the end will probably blow your brains out. Go watch it!

Apps

Caution! This is absolutely addicting and has the potential to make you very frustrated when you can't solve it. Flow is a free iPhone app, which you can get here. The objective is to connect dots of the same colour with a pipe. This is great for killing time on the bus or in boring classes (don't take my advice, kids!). Also very suitable for arts students, like me, competing with their engineering friends. :)

Place

The Vancouver Public Library. I absolutely love it at the Central Branch. I discovered it in February, spent hours there and got a library card right away. The building and architecture is absolutely beautiful and who can say no to spending their time among thousands of books. If you live in the Greater Vancouver Area you should definitely pay this beauty a visit. I have yet to find my favourite reading spot and close-by coffee shop. Recommendations are always welcome! I am planning on writing a separate blog post on the VPL as well. Visit The Vancouver Public Library online.

Event

My early birthday present from my parents was to go see Swan Lake performed by the National Ballet of China at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. I had an amazing seat and this was definitely my highlight of the month.
